A Warm Welcome to Nalisha Parmar

Nalisha Parmar - Odour Management Intern

Silsoe Odours – the odour management specialists – are very pleased to announce the appointment of Nalisha Parmar to the position of Junior Odour Consultant (Intern).

Nalisha joins us from the University of East Anglia. She will shortly be completing her studies in BSc Environmental Earth Sciences. While studying, Nalisha has notably demonstrated her commitment to environmental management and sustainability.

While at Silsoe Odours, she’ll convert her theoretical knowledge into first-hand experience in the odour management arena.

Why Offer An Odour Management Internship?

Earlier this year, IEMA published its noteworthy State of the Profession survey results for 2018.

“Statistics from the survey reveal that almost seven in ten environment and sustainability professionals say they are satisfied or highly satisfied in their jobs. The one third of respondents who have moved into the profession from another sector are even more happy, with their satisfaction rising to 78% – 14% above the UK average.”

We’re pleased to welcome Nalisha as our first summer intern at Silsoe Odours. Furthermore, we hope Nalisha’s appointment marks the first of many successful internships. We’re aiming to support entry level talent in the field of environmental assessment, and specifically odour management.

At the end of the summer, Nalisha will head to the University of Southampton, where she’ll study MSc Environmental Monitoring and Assessment. She hopes her time with Silsoe Odours will be integral to her master’s degree course. And as a result, be invaluable in her chosen career path.

What’s Involved?

Nalisha reports to Silsoe Odours Director, Robert Sneath. While under Robert’s guidance, she’ll be directly involved with all areas of odour management consultancy. As a result, she will:

  • gain experience of the various types of odour sampling methods
  • learn about the various air quality guidance documents and BSEN13725: 2003
  • be involved with the odour laboratory as an Odour Assessor
  • shadow the Laboratory Manager to understand the full odour testing procedure
  • support ongoing odour projects

Please join us in welcoming Nalisha to the team, and to the industry.
