The team at Silsoe Odours provides the highest quality odour assessment, sampling and testing services. We have many years of experience delivering independent, industry-leading technical expertise. Our odour laboratory was the first in the UK to achieve UKAS accreditation, a standard we have maintained for over 15 years. In addition, the team holds UKAS accreditation for on-site odour sampling.
We are also the only CPD certified provider of odour management training, highlighting our leadership in the sector. Our popular Odour Study Day course is certified by the CPD certification service, endorsed by the IAQM and accredited by CIWEM.
OUR ACCREDITATIONS
UKAS is the “UK’s National Accreditation Body, responsible for determining, in the public interest, the technical competence and integrity of organisations such as those offering testing, calibration and certification services.”
Silsoe Odours was the first odour laboratory in the UK to gain UKAS accreditation for odour concentration measurements by dynamic olfactometry to ISO17025 according to European Standard BSEN13725:2003. We have successfully maintained this achievement for over 15 years. We also hold UKAS accreditation for odour sampling according to the same standards.
Our Director, Robert Sneath, continues to act as the UK expert in the CEN working group TC264/WG2 – Olfactometry. He has held this role since 1995 and been instrumental in the group’s development of the European standard EN13725 Air Quality – determination of odour concentration by dynamic olfactometry. Further development of the standard is currently underway.
MCERTS is the Environment Agency’s Monitoring Certification Scheme. Our Director, Robert Sneath, is formally certified by the MCERTS performance standard to undertake stack sampling. Robert achieved this qualification based on his vast experience, as well as specific MCERTS training and assessment.
UVDB is the utility industry pre-qualification system used by the utilities sector in the UK to manage risk within the supply chain and comply with EU regulations. Silsoe Odours is an Achilles UVDB qualified and audited supplier, demonstrating our capability to meet the industry requirements.

Since 2005, our specialist odour experts have offered the Odour Study Day to individuals involved in the assessment and management of odours. The course is CPD certifed, endorsed by the IAQM and holds CIWEM accreditation.
